I am pleased that you have considered coming to Vita Counseling. Counseling is a very personal shared interaction and to be invited to share in others’ deeply human struggles is truly a privilege and a gift-one that I do not take lightly. I present this information in an effort to make you familiar with my philosophy in advance.
Seeking counseling is not a sign of personal failure or weakness. It means you are open to change and ready to address the issues you are facing that affect your emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being. We all come across obstacles and painful experiences in our lives. Reaching out and asking for help is never easy, but it’s important when you are facing difficulties to speak with someone who understands and can help.
Entering into the right therapeutic relationship is the first step toward healing and change. When you are looking for professional help, you want a counselor who you can trust, one who will uplift you, affirm you, and take good care of you-mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. I will hold your communication with me in the strictest confidence.
As a Catholic Christian, my approach is to help you find hope and healing, either indirectly or directly supported by faith-as much or as little as makes you comfortable. I work within many secular models of therapy to bring relief to my clients. As with all good counseling theories, their strengths lie in alignment with teachings found in Scripture. The most effective therapy comes from sound psychological theory rooted in the Word of God.
